Timer ready or paused
This Pomodoro timer separates 25 minutes of work from a 5 minute break. After four completed work intervals it offers a 15 minute break. Each interval starts only when you choose Begin; pause and reset are available.
What the work and break cycle is good for
- A defined task with a visible next action
- Alternating a study interval with a planned break
- Tracking completed work intervals without an account
Where it falls down
The standard cycle may interrupt work or feel too long before you start. Use the flexible focus timer for a different duration. The cycle is not a treatment for ADHD and does not measure task quality.
Using it well
Name one task before you press begin — not a subject but a task, the kind of action whose result you can inspect. If the phone is a distraction, try placing it out of reach. Stop at a useful stopping point and leave a restart note. A timer does not require you to abandon work at an unsafe or unsuitable moment.
If you set the timer and then still do not start, the problem is not necessarily the length. Check whether the next action is clear and the materials are ready. A timer cannot verify whether you began. One support to try is body doubling.
Common questions
- How does this Pomodoro timer work?
- Begin a 25-minute focus interval. When it finishes, prepare and begin a 5-minute break. After four completed work intervals, the suggested break is 15 minutes. Breaks do not start automatically.
- Can I pause or reset the cycle?
- Pause preserves the current interval. Reset repeats that interval and removes its completed-work count if it had just finished. Reset entire cycle returns to the first work interval with zero completed sessions.
- Does it work with the page closed?
- No. Keep this page open. Refreshing resets the cycle, and device sleep may delay callbacks or the optional completion bell.
