Terms of Service

By creating an account or using One Incense, you agree to these terms. They are written to be read.

What the service is

One Incense is a focus tool. It runs timed working sessions, notices when you leave the task, and a character comments on how the session went and keeps a short note about your pattern over time. It also publishes free tools — timers, sounds, a study room — and articles about focus and attention.

What it is not

It is not a medical device, a treatment, or a source of medical advice. Parts of this site discuss ADHD, executive dysfunction, brain fog, procrastination and related subjects. That material is general information about behaviour and working practice. It is not a diagnosis, it is not personal advice, and it is not a substitute for a qualified clinician.

If you are struggling persistently — with concentration, mood, sleep, or anything else — please speak to a doctor. Several common causes of the difficulties described on this site are identifiable and treatable, and no focus technique addresses them.

It is not a blocker. Nothing here prevents you from opening any application or website. The product notices; it does not restrain.

Accounts

You need an account to use the companion and to keep a record. Keep your credentials secure and tell us if you believe your account has been accessed by someone else. You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough to enter a contract in your jurisdiction.

One person, one account. Do not share an account, and do not use the service to build a competing product from our content.

Payment and subscriptions

The room, timers, sounds, drift detection and session record are free. A free account also receives up to five companion lines per day. The paid Hall plan adds all-day companion lines, cross-session memory and on-device camera presence.

• Subscriptions renew automatically at the interval you chose until you cancel.
• You can cancel at any time. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not refund the period already paid for, and you keep access until that period ends.
• Prices may change. If they do, we will tell you before it affects a renewal.
• Payment is handled by our payment provider. We never see your card details.

If something goes wrong with a charge, contact us — we would rather sort it out than have you dispute it.

What the companion says

The companion's lines are generated by a language model from your session data. They are not advice, not an assessment of you, and not always right. Treat them as what they are: a character responding to a session.

We limit how many lines can be generated per session and per day, because each one is a real model call.

Your content

What you type as your intent, and the record of your sessions, remain yours. We use them to run the service as described in the Privacy Policy and for nothing else.

Do not put anything into the service that you are not allowed to share with OpenRouter and the configured model provider — the Privacy Policy sets out exactly what is sent and when.

Acceptable use

Do not attempt to break, overload, or extract data from the service; do not use it to harass anyone; do not resell access. We may suspend an account that does.

Availability

We aim to keep the service running and make no guarantee that it always will be. Features may change. If we discontinue the service or make a change that materially reduces what you paid for, we will give notice and refund any unused paid period.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, the service is provided as is, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.

Ending it

You can delete your account at any time; doing so deletes your sessions and the companion's note. We may close an account that breaches these terms, and will refund any unused paid period unless the breach was serious.

Changes to these terms

If we change them materially we will say so on the site rather than only updating the date.
